This is the third and last videos in this series on "Low Cost Prosthetic Transfers". In this video we teach you how to apply and paint the cornstarch/pros-aide prosthetic transfer to an actor. Our goal in this series is to keep your costs down and allow you to practice using house hold grade materials. Using cornstarch instead of Cabosil is only an alternative not a replacement. Cabosil is still a much better material for prosthetic transfers. In the real world of makeup effects I personally would not use this method because I have access to Cabosil but Cornstarch does work fine for learning. (:
Low Cost Prosthetic Transfers is a special video series on creating prosthetic transfers using mostly consumer grade materials. I wanted to help effects artists that live in areas where it is hard to get professional grade materials either because it’s not cost effective for them to learn with or come countries just have a hard time getting some products.
These videos are also for those just getting into Prosthetic Transfers and would like to test their skills using inexpensive materials. You will need to purchase Pros-Aide since this is one of the only essential materials needed for creating Prosthetic Transfers.
Also highly recommend getting a set of Alcohol Activated Makeup Pallets. You can use cream makeups but you will find this kind of makeup leaves a non-realistic color to the transfers because it covers the prosthetic piece and not tints. Alcohol Activated Makeups look realistic next to the skin. If you want your makeups to look realistic and professional as possible you will need to invest in some kind of Alcohol Activated Makeups. BASTCO is a very nice Alcohol Activated Makeup and it is very reasonably prices.

100% Silicone Calk and Calk Gun (used for sealing bathroom shower, tub, sinks)

Vasaline: Used to coat mold as a mold release.

99% isopropyl Alcohol – I have found that 91% isopropyl alcohol does work with the BASHCO brand alcohol activated makeups.
Other basic makeup supplies you will need are: foam makeup sponges, translucent powder and assorted brushes.
