Round 2 of this match I definitely think is my favourite round to come out of this tournament so far. Me and my team went for a “round 4 of pop vs HardcoreMormonFuckingMachine” approach with this round, as you can tell by the similar length of the final product, lol, and yes it was originally my idea to make round 3 30 minutes long, as 1) I think it parallels the hardcoremormonfuckingmachine approach very well, 2) round 2 is already super long as is (7:12), and 3) I believe my teammates to all be people who enjoy experimental and longform approaches to tennis to varying extents.
Went for a post-minimalist approach with this inspired by MycroProcessor and Steve Reich, an approach I would like to execute more in future tennis matches, perhaps in my planned 1v1 with Dani or that black screen match I wanna do with Sqwik Sqwik (sqwikky y wont u answer my ping :dddd). Been thinking of taking super long form and improvisational approaches in tennis more outside of missadaxio, a match I often use as a sandbox to experiment with structures like this, my choice of missadaxio as an outlet for it being one many would probably think poorly of lol. The long form and live approach I usually take in missadaxio is one I executed at 6:23 with the queer duck bit, which I also spin the mycro/reich post-minimalism approach on at 8:31. I included a sissy hypno video in the queer duck improvisation part which Zekii seemed to find hilarious and very within the HardcoreMormonFuckingMachine ethos that our round tries to establish
Made the ambient part at 3:20 following a bout of cold internal emptiness which explains the sombre atmosphere of it, an edit I see in a similar vein to my round 12525 for missadaxio that I ended up using as a serve for iminonet
Made most of this while I was away in alberta for a few days! Was inspired to make the edit at 0:58 after my plane landed in Edmonton while Fotzepolitic started playing by chance, which was a very dreamy experience for me with the city lights and everything, first time I’ve ever been on a plane too. That edit was also very inspired by fiv95 (I envision a fiv visual in my head every time I listen to Cocteau twins), who was formerly a partner of the opposing team in this match, but is now dropping out alongside his boyfriend Fozp1444, sad to see as I believe both of them had good chemistry with our team, but at least the exchange we had still happened, and it’s also more than understandable why fiv95 ended up dropping out considering every horrible thing I to an extent witnessed them go through last night. Mahify and yellowcatball will now be taking their place in round 4, hope they’ll be able to handle this behemoth of a round good enough LOL
