I'm still slowly going through the collection of 14 Digital8 video tapes I received last year. Most contain footage from 2001 to 2005 of road trips, mountain biking, speed boat racing, skiing, and snowboarding.
Of the 10 tapes I've gone through so far, these are the only video clips I've found that was recording in 16:9 widescreen mode. The first part was recorded February 18th, 2002, and the second part was recorded March 16th, 2003.
YouTube's re-compression has not been kind to the snowflakes, despite my best attempt to provide a high quality source (854x480 H.264 at 12.3 Mbps!). The smearing and blockiness you see is YouTube's fault, not the camcorder's (at least when it stays in focus).
