Losartan (also known as Cozaar) is an angiotensin-receptor blocker medication used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetic nephropathy. Losartan-induced blockade of angiotensin receptors leads to reduced angiotensin II (Ang II) effects, to include a reduction in vasoconstriction, and Ang II-mediated release of catecholamines from the adrenal glands among other effects.
