You May Have Cancer If You Have This Skin Finding | Leser-Trelat Sign vs. Seborrheic Keratosis

A skin finding that indicates an underlying cancer? Yes, there are many different skin findings that can occur when you have cancer, and Leser-Trelat sign is one of them. Leser-Trelat sign is a rare, paraneoplastic cutaneous finding that occurs with certain types of cancers, including internal malignancies like stomach cancer, colon cancer, and esophageal cancer. The problem is that Leser-Trelat sign is extremely similar to a common condition known as Seborrheic Keratosis, which are common “age spots”. However, there are important differences between these two conditions that can help us distinguish whether someone has Leser-Trelat sign or not, which we will discuss in this lesson.
