I wonder if tree huggers would think differently about the loggers working near their house, if they knew that the truck full of logs driving down the road was actually making their hillside community safer by removing the risk of their house being burnt down.
Last week I met up with @solanoresources and learned a lot about what they do and why they do it. Turns out, one of the main types of logging they specialize in is called fuel mitigation.
Fuel mitigation is essentially a type of logging that thins out the forest so if there is a forest fire, it's controllable.
The method is basically removing the fuel (trees and brush close together) that a wild fire needs to gain momentum by easily jumping from tree to tree, which causes it to spread fast and become uncontrollable.
