Wow, this was a very fun set to play! Crux Freeparties attract a jungle and drum and bass crowd so I always use this as an opportunity to change things up a little. More acid, more kinda-melodic sequences, more off-beat kicks, kept things moving. It was my most well received freeparty set by far, and it obviously makes things SO much easier when you look up and people are going mental!
Started at 140BPM, ended at 150BPM, which is a fair bit faster than normal for me.
Syntakt, Edge, Grind, TD-3-MO, and little bits of Oneiroi.
I didn’t touch the Spice, and unfortunately that is turning into a bit of a pattern, I am not really getting on with it, sonically or musically.
I run this through a Riemann Techno Mastering chain before uploading, I felt it deserved a bit more than my usual lazy upload of the master output, which is always tuned to the soundsystem.
The title is a reference to the fact that I had to leave the party “early”, which was at dawn, cause I needed sleep to continue working on my van engine. What I found when I woke up and started working on it was three cracked pistons. Bugger…
