Increase productivity with the LinLab "Follow Function"

Scientifica's unique "Follow Function" provides the opportunity to effortlessly link manipulator movement to stage movement. Locking pipettes in the field of view while you search for areas of interest within the LinLab control software. You can then store an unlimited number of important memory positions.

Scientifica's LinLab software allows an unlimited number of memory positions and the ability to virtually link up to 12 following components.
The "Follow" function (a feature of this software) is a great example of Scientifica's equipment integrating together to increase productivity in the laboratory. This function makes navigating around the sample and securing multiple patches easier, whilst improving efficiency.

The Follow Function works within the LinLab control interface in this way

• Once the pipettes have been brought into the field of view, select the Follow Control function under the Micromanipulators Tab.
• Then check the two tick boxes for Manipulator 1 & 2.
• A common problem when working with larger samples is searching for cells of interest
and then having to bring the pipettes into the field of view. Using "Follow", one can virtually link manipulators to move at the same time as the microscope stage or platform, ensuring the pipettes are always in the field of view.
• With the pipettes locked in the field of view one can then identify an area of interest. The recording or stimulating electrode, Left PatchStar, can then simply be unlocked from the follow control, the point information popup will then promt the user to name the point, and the cell can be approached as normal.
• With the Right Patchstar still checked, then move the motorised stage or platform to a second area of interest and the manipulator will follow this movement.
• This can be carried out for up to 12 individual pipettes/components simultaneously.

Scientifica's follow function, cuts out the labor-intensive task of searching the sample and then bringing the pipettes into the field of view, reducing these steps into one simple process.
