Emuraloz just uploaded a video showing away to despawn sprites with the Magic Rod: youtube.com/watch?v=cDq820afIAM

While that method does not work on the DX version of the game, I came up with a method that does work! The way it works is that by having too many sprites on the screen, new sprites can't spawn on the next screen. This is done by CRAZY luck with the digging.

This was recorded with save states for a proof-of-concept. I'm looking forward to seeing this be done wiithout in a speedrun ;). Probably if a different method is found for it.
