Super late entry for Pokemon League's Pride event - this is like a... half sequel to no cause for concern I guess?
I threw this together because I'm just... wrecked about what happened to Naya Rivera, I guess. I was stuck on what song to use for this event since it was announced and I've cycled through a bunch without landing on anything, but I couldn't get this out of my head. It's not a traditionally LGBT+ themed song, but it was presented that way on Glee (which this cover is from).
It's easy to mock it now, but Glee had a massive, formative impact for me when I was a young teenager struggling to come to terms with who I was. Santana's confession to Brittany still tore me up every rewatch, and it'll probably tear me up all the more now that Naya's gone. Glee was messy, clunky and often clumsily insulted the demographics it wanted to represent - but when it got it right, it got it right, and being able to see a lesbian teenager navigate her attraction to her best friend and eventually find love and acceptance was probably one of the things that kept me alive through a lot of crap. Naya pushed for that representation, against Santana and Brittany sleeping together just being a joke, and I'll forever be grateful to her for that.
I don't really know what else to say? It's just two girls in love with each other, like 90% of the stuff I edit nowadays.

This is for Round 2 of Shuffle Wars. Ive started... god knows how many versions of this with different songs or myths and ended up with this being the most coherent one. We all picked a couple themes, which were shuffled around and redistributed - my opponent for this round is Rai (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQYBTv5U0J1c7NISWl9CdBA) who is... like the SWEETEST most wonderful person Ive ever talked to and shes a FANTASTIC editor who makes some brilliant shit and also runs Pokemon League, which got me back into editing??? Just. Wow. I love Rai.
My choice of themes was Greek Myth, Isolation, Fighting Fate and Found Family. I tried to incorporate all four and weave them together a bit but... idk how well that actually worked. Also, Hadestown continues to haunt me because I couldnt resist...
Greek Myth: This is a loose (gay) retelling of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Aerith is Orpheus, who makes a deal with Hades (Caius) to bring her beloved Eurydice (Lightning) back from the underworld. They have to walk out of the underworld together, but Aerith cant look back at Lightning or shell doom her to be trapped there forever. She cant handle the pressure and, convinced she isnt following her, turns around to check. The myth usually ends here (other than a miserable, gristly death for Orpheus afterwards) but in order to include the other themes I expanded it! After losing Lightning, Aerith is approached by Balthier (Hermes, a god of many things, including travel) who gives her a second chance, letting her travel into the past to try the trial again, and inviting her to spend time with his adopted daughters (Pan and Autolycus/Vanille and Tifa) so she has a support system. While theyre happy there, Caius still comes to claim Lightning. Aerith agrees to make the deal again and descends into the underworld, but this time she succeeds, saving Lightning and leading her back to the world above.
So, in summary:
Aerith - Orpheus
Lightning - Eurydice
Caius - Hades (god of the underworld)
Balthier - Hermes (god of trade, wealth, luck, fertility, animal husbandry, sleep, language, thieves, and travel. jesus christ hermes my dude leave some for the rest of us)
Tifa - Autolycus (hermes successor)
Vanille - Pan (god of nature and flocks)
(Pan and Autolycus are originally Hermes biological kids, two among a CROWD of sons, god he gets around).
Isolation: The fear of being alone is what drives Aeriths resolve to break. Turning to look at Lightning causes her to lose the only person she really had to hold dear, and she winds up as isolated as she feared until Balthier comes along with the opportunity to start...
Fighting Fate: Aeriths deal with Caius was doomed to fail. With Balthiers help, she goes back to right the wrong and challenges the path the Fates picked for her, but only because of her...
Found Family: Both Aerith and Lightning find a connection and solace with Tifa and Vanille. Though theyre not related by blood, the girls grow to care about each other and knowing that she wont be alone even if she fails gives Aerith the strength to keep walking without looking back. She saves Lightning because she has that support system in play, even though she still has to undertake the trial alone.

Contains literally ONLY spoilers for Type-0, Im afraid, so if youre staying away from them, Id avoid this.
Although, since it looks like were never getting a release anywhere besides in Japan (can I just mention how its my pet hate how the only concern anywhere is for a NA release date? What about the EU, what about everywhere else in the world, hm?) there isnt much point in being spoiler conscious until you play it yourself, unless you speak good enough Japanese to import it and go through it yourself.
This is barely anything, hardly any editing, and it only took an hour-ish since its ONLY clips from the ending (not the secret one, either) to Type-0, and not many of them at that. I KNOW the song is cliche now, but it reminded me somewhat of Ace (Ill sing it one last time for you, for example...) and sort of fit what happened, so... maybe Ill remake it when I download more of the game.

I didnt really intend to see the ending as fast as I did- besides the opening of the game and a trailer or two, .gifs of it were the first real glimpse I had at Type-0. I guess its kind of like how Crisis Core was for me- the first thing I knew was that the game ended in death, thanks to Tumblr. xD Didnt stop me literally sobbing like a baby the first time I watched it.
What caught me about it was that the imagery of how they died was pretty amazing- I dont know, all the holding hands and leaning on one another really got to me, for some reason. It doesnt help that, since then, watching bits of it and cutscenes, its obvious if I EVER get to play it (which is looking seriously unlikely right about now) itd be Jack, Nine and Ace who I rooted for, who I liked. Whiiiiiiich is pretty bad news considering the shit everyone goes through.
Yeah, Im never gonna play it, but I like this game. And the videos lazy, Im sorry about that. Im SURE I gave enough spoiler warnings by now, hopefully, so no one can yell at me for that.

I really dont like how this came out and it looks really lazy, but... thats why I dont edit with WMM, I guess. That and it freezes even more than Vegas. I dont know how and I dont want to try saving this in widescreen. Im that sleepy and lazy.
And Im kind of annoyed/depressed that my dad has set up the internet to turn off after 9pm, until 7am, every night. Just for me. Not my brother because he wouldnt be on it then anyway. Apparently. I swear Ill find a loophole soon. T-T I hope.
It could be up to another year before I can talk comfortably with anyone stateside for a while, if I dont. DAMN YOU, PARENTS. Its still another four years before Ill be out of school and can finally get a bit of freedom... Cause Im staying on after my GCSEs.
Anyway, story is simple; Namine and Riku are together (sorry, subscribers with Namiku phobia) but he goes off to fight Ansem and doesnt win. Before Ansem can enslave him, Riku dies... leaving behind the replica the Organisation made. With him around, insisting on protecting her, it makes it much harder for her to forget the real Riku; she keeps refusing Repliku, who gets upset, raging about how hes stuck as a fake.
Namine loses it, and breaks his memory- along with his fake heart, leaving him a puppet on the floor as she runs.
Five years later, she hasnt forgotten; shes staying with Sora. After all, its not like one would ever let the other forget Riku, they were both close to him.
I tried tried tried to follow the Heartbroken theme. At first, its Nami whos like that, then Repliku- literally heart broken. xDD

Not that I care about spoilers myself (helloooo, Vanitas~) but some people like freak out.
And it IS basically giving away Ven and Terras heel face turns at the end of the game.
...I officially suck at hitting beats right.
1. This was supposed to be for the Final Fantasy Contest 2010. But my laptop screen had other ideas. I dont know, I kind of like it- its all sweet and soft, although the flow is a bit wobbly.
2. I actually love this one so far. It took me ages to get the red/yellow glowy flash effect working in time with the beat. Plus if I manage the finished project, its focusing a lot more on Terra earlier on, which is something I havent seen done with Birth by Sleep and this song yet. Its usually Aquas point of view.
Which this one IS by this particular chorus.
3. Masking and beat hitting. Two things I shouldnt attempt at the same time, because both suffer. Hopefully YT wont freak up the song like it has the last few times. The colouring also bothers me. :D

I feel like I kind of have to tell you guys where Im going or someone might think Im neglecting their PMs or something. D: And I always feel really bad when I get back to find thats happened.
I KNOW its only been four days since I came out of my last hiatus, but these arent optional. They cant be worked around, and Im not just taking a break for my own kicks- in three years, I NEVER have. Im quite proud of that. xDDD
This time, its not family or moving house or bitchy parents (grrr...)... Its simply that Im going on a drama weekend (yes, Im a drama kid. xD) for the next three days... with about twenty hours of non-stop workshops that start super-early in the morning and finish late-ish at night. And Ill be exhausted when I get back, when Ill be expected to revise as I have exams the next few school days.
Id like to find whatever douchebag decided our exams had to be at the same time as 1. quite a lot of various trips and weekends, and 2. in the summer, for our second wave of papers, right in the middle of work experience, where we take a full time job for two weeks instead of going to school- so we have to work adult hours, for no pay, and still revise. Cant wait.
I will be back, at the latest, next Wednesday. I might reply to messages before then (if I can sneak on YT while revising) but I wont be editing or uploading anything. ]:
