Staying in touch with past colleagues sounds simple, but in practice it’s surprisingly hard. It’s easy to avoid, easy to forget, and mentally expensive to remember details, find contact info, and figure out what to say. While job searching, I decided to tackle this problem head-on by building a “Light Networking” system designed to reduce friction without removing the human element.
In this video, I walk through a personal AI-assisted workflow that schedules gentle reminders, drafts email templates, and keeps contact notes up to date, without reading my inbox, sending messages for me, or tracking performance metrics. The AI plays a very narrow but powerful role: summarizing email replies and updating contact records so future outreach feels natural and informed.
The project intentionally avoids full AI agents in favor of a simple, reliable design, with a big focus on prompt quality and examples over rigid rules. The result is a tool that supports real relationships instead of automating them away. This is an exploration of how AI can help us stay connected, thoughtful, and human in a world that often pushes us toward the opposite.
