Lifeless Past is a gothic post-punk band from the Netherlands and this is their opening performance for Shellac in the main hall of Paradiso in Amsterdam on October 20th, 2023.

The stage lighting was done by Paradiso's in-house lighting tech Tonny

I mixed the visuals projected on the back wall of the venue. The visuals sample archival drawings from the Biodiversity Heritage Library, which I prepared in Photoshop to be used in my Resolume VJ software. I used some of my analog video hardware to provide some texture, namely the Mezkalin Rusty Joe and a feedback loop created by a combination of my Sima SFX-9, the BPMC Fluxus, and the JVC JX-C7 color corrector. Also I used some AI generation effects for the first time: specifically to interpolate images (using Flowframes) into a morphing video sequence and to generate backgrounds (using Photoshop) to make interesting tree branch-like shapes.
