About Kate O’Hanlon.
As a teacher, curriculum adviser and psychologist, I have a broad range of interests in the areas of teaching and learning. At the moment, I am working as a freelance consultant for schools, primary and post-primary, so I work with children, teachers and parents. Children with speech, language and communication needs are of particular concern for education at the moment, particularly as so many are arriving in Primary 1 classrooms with delayed language skills.I believe that's a greater emphasis should be placed on the development of the thinking skills of young people in a more direct, explicit way. The world is constantly changing, making more demands on our skills and abilities and we are responsible for preparing the next generation to deal with all of it.
