An EMP from a close lightning strike in a strong thunderstorm destroyed several electronics in the house. The clock has a burn scorch on the lower right of the large display and I'd like to know what blew up inside.
The teardown explores the effects of the EMP and I'll do my best to identify anything wrong with the circuitboard. It's unknown what magnitude of forces went through it, just that my wife saw the intense flash of lightning outside and the clock immediately stopped working.
