USB inverter build, 5V to mains inverter, DIY inverter circuit and efficiency testing. I build a simple USB-powered inverter using a recycled phone charger transformer and compare its current consumption with the classic Jeanna's Light circuit.
Can a simple one-transistor USB inverter really match older high-efficiency inverter designs? In this video I dismantle a USB charger, reuse its transformer, build the inverter from scratch, test several different transistors and measure the actual current consumption while powering a mains LED night light.
Rather than simply showing that the circuit works, I focus on something rarely measured—the input current—and compare the results with my original Jeanna's Light inverter from 14 years ago.
If you enjoy practical electronics, transformer projects, inverter circuits, transistor experiments and energy efficiency testing, you'll find plenty of useful information here.
