Before we show compassion by helping the common man with their woes, we must first investigate what I've learned are called Shimenawa, ropes wrapped around grand old trees; should anyone cut down such a tree, they would be attacked by angry spirits. This may explain why the last time I investigated the cave beneath a tree like that, there was a murderous fugitive ready to slice me in half. So there's the order of operations, ghosts then farming.
