The many characters of Moominvalley are both integral parts of its whimsical charm and the reason that it's so full of issues. Almost all the residents of the valley have a deep character flaw, each of whom manage them with varying degrees of success. The fact that Moomintroll is the most normal person there allows them to act as the viewers eyes as they gaze into a place that somehow functions despite itself.
Misabel is one of the more unfortunate residents of the valely, as her name heavily implies. She is often upset about things, though rarely without good reason. Heavy are the burdens upon her shoulders and try as others might to alleviate them, there's only so much that they can't do. The empathy of others is half the solution, but the rest of it has to come from Misabel changing her perspective on things and paying attention to the good things that happen in her life.
