Leopard main battle tanks are intended for destroying enemy armoured vehicles and providing armoured jaegers with direct fire support. The Finnish Defence Forces acquired used Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks from Germany in 2002. Later, the Defence Forces continued Leopard main battle tank acquisitions by purchasing more recent 2A6 model tanks from the Netherlands in 2014-19. Mine clearance, bridge-laying and anti-aircraft tanks have also been built on the Leopard 2A4 chassis.

The Leopard 2 is a main battle tank developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s for the West German Army. The tank first entered service in 1979 and succeeded the earlier Leopard 1 as the main battle tank of the German Army. Various versions have served in the armed forces of Germany and 12 other European countries, as well as several non-European nations. The Leopard 2 was used in Kosovo with the German Army and has also seen action in Afghanistan with the Danish and Canadian contributions to the International Security Assistance Force.There are two main development batches of the tank, the original models up to Leopard 2A4, which have vertically faced turret armour, and the "improved" batch, namely the Leopard 2A5 and newer versions, which have angled arrow-shaped turret appliqué armour together with other improvements. All models feature digital fire control systems with laser rangefinders, a fully stabilized main gun and coaxial machine gun, and advanced night vision and sighting equipment (first vehicles used a low-light level TV system or LLLTV; thermal imaging was introduced later on). The tank has the ability to engage moving targets while moving over rough terrain.

The first preproduction Leopard 2 MBT was delivered to the German Army late in 1978 for training. The first production Leopard 2 was handed over by Krauss-Maffei in October 1979 in Munich. Six tanks were delivered in 1979, 100 in 1980, 220 in 1981 and by 1982 production was running at 300 a year. Swedish cold war main battle tank
The Stridsvagn 103 (Strv 103), also known as the S-Tank, is a Swedish post-WWII main battle tank. It is known for its unconventional design: it is turretless with a fixed gun traversed by engaging the tracks and elevated by adjusting the hull suspension. While turretless armoured fighting vehicles are usually classified as assault guns or tank destroyers, despite its unique gun layingprocess, the Strv 103 is considered a tank because its designated combat role matched those of other tanks within contemporary Swedish doctrine. It is the only mass-produced tank since World War II to dispense with a turret.
The Strv 103 was designed and manufactured in Sweden. It was developed in the 1950s and was the first main battle tank to use a turbine engine. The result was a very low-profile design with an emphasis on survivability and heightened crew protection level. Strv 103s formed a major portion of the Swedish armoured forces from the 1960s to the 1990s

About Arsenalen:
The Swedish Tank Museum – Showing the military vehicle development, as well as the military history of Sweden, from the early 20th century until today. The museum also includes a very special exhibition of tin figures, as well as a soldier’s croft dating back to the 17th century, where an accompanying exhibition tells you about a bygone era.
The museum was inaugurated June 17, 2011 and is open year round. Run by a private foundation – Foundation Södermanland Military History collections. The vehicles belong to the Swedish Government – the Swedish National Museums of Military History. The vehicles were previously located to the Tank Museum in Axvall and Military Vehicle Museum in Malmköping. The collection includes about 350 vehicles, of which about 75 are on display in the museum. Some parts of the exhibition changes each year.
Beside the museum there is an original soldiers croft from late 19th century with an accompanying exhibition, The Soldier and the Croft. An exhibition about the history of the local Regiment (Södermanland regiment) tell the story from 14thcentury until 2005 when the regiment was closed. The figure museum is a private collection which previously existed as a museum in Hjortnäs in Dalarna.
