Lenovo ThinkPad T480s with Intel CPU combines portability with strong, reliable performance. It features 8th-gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and Intel UHD 620 graphics, offering efficient power for development, everyday work, and multitasking. Although rare, there are also T480s models with Intel i5 7th generation CPUs. Memory support includes 4 or 8GB DDR4 RAM soldered plus an additional slot for up to 20 or 24GB total, while fast M.2 SSDs ensure quick boot and application load times. Although the Lenovo ThinkPad T480s technical documentation lists the maximum RAM as 20–24 GB, some users have reported successfully using a 32 GB stick for a total of 40 GB. The 14" display comes in FHD or sharp WQHD options, and the lightweight magnesium-hybrid chassis keeps the laptop sturdy without adding bulk. Connectivity includes USB-C with Thunderbolt 3, Wi-Fi, USB-A ports, HDMI, microSD, Ethernet via adapter, and optional LTE for mobile productivity. The T480s also provides excellent keyboard quality, good thermals, and a solid balance of performance and battery life, making it a well-rounded machine even years after release. Although there is built-in TPM 2.0 which allows running MS Windows, it is highly recommend the use T480s with a Linux distribution. The 24.04 LTS release of Ubuntu run fine with it even without any performance optimization. Out of the box this Ubuntu release comes with systemd, Wayland and GNOME desktop environment.
