In this video I take you along to show you how you can identify leeks in the wild. These are also called ramps as well as a few other names. They are fairly easy to identify, and if you like onions or garlic, you will love these!
WARNING: Always consult with a local expert FIRST before trying ANY wild edible plant. I am NOT an expert.
They are great in soups and salads, and do not have to be cooked to be eaten. They would be amazing on burgers too if you hike with a grill on your back :-)
In my area they tend to grow on hillsides and in soils that are fairly moist with some consistency. They often grow in large patches.
Since leeks / ramps are a root vegetable, take precautions NOT to over-harvest them.
