There are a lot of videos on YouTube using these using these simple L-C single driver oscillators. They never cease to amaze, as in this case they are often running from supply voltages of less than 20V. However, the RF fields created around the coil and capacitor can be high enough to create discharges in gasses that would take more than 1kV to strike. While the supply voltage is low the L-C voltage and current can be high and it is very easy to receive RF burns from getting too close to the field.
