Inspired to set this up after seeing Hannah Fry’s explanation base on electrostatic forces. At first, this appears too weak a force to detect at a few hundred volts. However, the effect is observable in this simulation although, not physically felt . It does suggest the 'stickiness' in the sensation may well be from electrostatics and not just electrical sensitivity of nerves.
Note: Mains voltage experiment can be dangerous. Capacitance of a person taken as 100pF for the experiment. PSU leakage capacitance here is 0.47uF way higher than would normally experienced or considered safe.
