lauren Ornelas stepped onto the vegetarian path when she was in elementary school … she's now been active in the animal rights movement for over 30 years, creating the Food Empowerment Project in 2007.
FEP’s mission is to create a more just and sustainable world for everyone, by recognizing the power of our food choices. But lauren and her colleagues also realize that it’s not so easy for everyone to simply choose healthy vegan products, depending on things like how much money we earn, and where we live.
lauren talks about the ways oppression and injustice affects all beings, and why vegans must extend our circle of compassion to understand the challenges that some of our neighbours might be faced with when they make their food choices.
