In both builds, I don't connect the diamonds of the rhombic dodecahedra with the long ends meeting, but with a 90 degree rotation, because that fits better with the unit that is used. I don't know the name of this lattice or surface, when I find out I'll mention it here. The second build with 13 units is a cuboctahedron.
