Legendary Songwriter Desmond Child had a Disco song called If you Were a Woman and I was a Man that he wrote for Bonnie Tyler...It Failed in the America but was a hit in france. He brought the song to Bon Jovi, Together he, John Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora added guitars and wrote new lyrics and made it a rock song. It became the #1 80s rock classic You Give Love a Bad Name! So today I have Desmon Child on the show, who’s written so many hits including You Give Love Bad Name.
It was initially written as a disco-type song called "If I were a woman and you were a man…" It actually hit #6 in France, but stalled at #77 here in America. Desmond knew the song was better than that. So get this. He took the song and rewrote new lyrics to it, and made the song rock, and a few months later, Bon Jovi made it a #1 hit.
