The first extremely cold winter gale of the winter of 2018-19 hit on the evening of 1/24/2019, with temperatures dropping to 11 ˚F by morning. Winds 35 kts during the night dropped to 25 kts by the time of this video. Shore ice was limited and flat the previous evening. Notice the rebounding waves from the face of the ice interact with the incoming waves, forming what are called clapotis waves. Filmed at South Haven MI USA
