한국은 물론 일본, 중국 등 해외 공연까지 하며 누적 관객 5만명을 동원한 뮤지컬 빈센트 반 고흐가 10주년을 맞아 더욱 멋진 모습으로 돌아왔다.
이 작품은 가난하지만 가치 있는 삶을 살고자 했던 화가 빈센트 반 고흐와 그의 유일한 정신적 지주였던 동생 테오 반 고흐가 들려주는 따뜻하고 아름다운 이야기를 통해 관객들에게 그림으로 감동과 위로를 주는 작품이다.
이야기는 빈센트 반 고흐가 스스로 생을 마감한 지 6개월 후 동생 테오 반 고흐가 형과의 기억을 되새기며 형의 유작전을 준비하면서 두 사람이 실제 주고받은 900여 통의 편지를 바탕으로 펼쳐진다.
특히 ‘별이 빛나는 밤에’, ‘해바라기’ 등 1000장이 넘는 고흐의 명작을 3D 프로젝트 맵핑 기술을 통해 재해석해 환상적인 고흐의 캔버스를 살아 숨 쉬는 것처럼 무대에 서 구현해 호평을 받고 있다.
