Korea is preparing helicopter, drone and ground search operations in Nepal on Monday, as nine Koreans remain out of contact following last week's devastating floods.
A Foreign Ministry official told reporters Monday that there has been no change in the status of the nine, who have been unreachable since the flooding last Wednesday.
The government is again seeking permission from Nepali authorities to deploy helicopters, with searches planned around areas including the weir dam near the disaster site.
Sunday's planned operations were unable to go ahead after Nepal's military did not grant flight clearance, citing safety concerns and air-traffic congestion.
Drone operations are also awaiting local approval on Monday.
On the ground, a nine-member search team of fire and rescue personnel is attempting to reach Ramche, around one to two kilometres from the accident site.
The team carried out a preliminary survey as far as Battar on Sunday, identifying a possible route towards the site.
Officials say the team will assess conditions once it reaches Ramche, before determining how far the ground search can proceed towards the disaster area.
The flooding struck Nepal's northern Rasuwa district on August 26, hitting a hydroelectric power project involving the two Korean companies.
Six of those still out of contact are from Doosan Enerbility, and three are from Korea South-East Power.
An initial government rapid-response team arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday night, with a second team dispatched to Nepal over the weekend.
The two companies are also pursuing separate search operations.
A site manager who survived the flooding remains in Nepal to help with the search for his colleagues.
“I feel nothing but grief and sorrow. Nothing else is on my mind. I simply want to provide as much support as I can, based on what I know, in whatever way will help the search.”
Doosan Enerbility applied to operate two helicopters Monday, while Korea South-East Power is seeking approval for one.
Both are also awaiting clearance from Nepali authorities.
And back in Seoul, members of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee visited the Foreign Ministry on Monday morning for a briefing on the response.
Committee chair Song Seog-jun called on the government to make every effort to establish the whereabouts of the nine Koreans and secure their swift rescue.
