Controls:
left & right = walk
down = crouch
space = jump
alt = shoot
page up = pause game & resume game (with a cute animation of Chibi drinking hot tea)
page up while in pause = resume game
Gameplay is more like Super Mario: you have to reach the end of the map in order to advance to the next level. For obvious reasons, scrolling is absent. You have to reach the right side of the screen to move on the next one, until you reach Chibi’s house.
First of all, you need to catch the golden cat that appears and disappears for some seconds, in order to grow up. This effect lasts until an enemy hurts you. If an enemy hits the cat while small, you lose a life.
During your way, you even encounter other items like coins (100 pts if small, 500 pts if big), clovers (600 pts, but the red ones hurt you, unless you shoot them 4 times to turn them collectable) and the two main weapons that are the sack of flour and the slingshot. I do not recommend the slingshot at all for two reasons: first you cannot kill worms with that weapon and second you cannot reveal hidden secrets.
Not every coin is visible in the game! Some coins are well hidden and only by shooting in a specific spot you can reveal them (some give you points, some give you an extra life). I’m not sure if I revealed all of them (tell me in the comments if I forgot some coins, exclusively for my ignorance), but I managed to find many of those.
In two specific rounds there is a secret screen past the goal.
1ST extra life bonus at 50.000 pts and then, another one for every 100.000 pts reached.
You lose a life in three ways:
1) if an enemy kills you when you’re short;
2) if you fall on a pit;
3) if time expires.
I adore this game!! So entertaining and one of the cutest!! It is highly recommended for those ones they want to explore the MSX platform.
