The loop stitch produces a fun texture that looks especially great trimming edges. The loops can be adjusted up until the last step, but are very stable once locked in place. This video shows both continental and English style knitting .

Knitting How-To: the loop stitch: with right side facing, knit a stitch and then without dropping the origin stitch from the left needle, bring the yarn to front of work between the needles. Wrap yarn around your finger or thumb (either one, but be consistent to keep loops the same size) and then bring the yarn to back between needles. Knit a second stitch into the same stitch and then drop the origin stitch from left needle. Pass the first stitch knit into the origin stitch over the second stitch to lock the loop in place.
