I love the flexibility of being able to remove a pompom from my hats or change colors, so I sew a button on inside the hat. It's a perfect way to match your mood and/or remove a pompom to wash the hat! Shown here is a purchased pompom (aka head-tribble) with an elastic loop, but this also works for handmade pompoms with yarn tails. In that case, just bring both tails to the inside and tie them around the button.
