On March 8, 2024, the Kavli Nanoscience Institute held a science symposium to celebrate twenty years of innovation and impact in nanoscience and nanotechnology at the center. The program included a special keynote talk by Nobel laureate and former U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu (Stanford University) on "The role of materials and nanotechnology in getting to net-zero GHG emissions". Dr. Harry A. Atwater, chair of the division of Engineering and Applied Science, introduced Dr. Chu.
