At the end of Episode 4 of House of the Dragon season 2, King Aegon 2 Targaryen is presumed dead, posing serious concerns regarding his destiny and what comes next.
It is fair to infer King Aegon did not die, even if the show's conclusion leaves room for interpretation.
Aegon's wounds may have been deadly, no doubt about it, and in fact, it's a small marvel that all three dragonriders survived, but there are a few reasons he is probably still alive. The main one being that he doesn't die at this point in the novel.
