One popular theory about Aemond Targaryen is that Aegon's offspring truly belong to him.
This notion was based on the show's source material, Fire & Blood, which showed that although Aegon was comparatively indifferent to his responsibilities as heir, Aemond had a more ambitious ambition for power, having claimed a large dragon and studied the blade.
Given that his children are secretly the successors to the Iron Throne, it would be understandable for Aemond to wish to offend his brother.
