This video is part of my “KiCad Like a Pro, 4th edition” course, updated for KiCad 8! In this session, we’ll cover steps two and three of the PCB layout workflow: creating the outline (edge cuts) and placing the footprints. I’ll show you how to define the board’s dimensions and shape based on geometrical constraints and component placement.

You’ll learn how to use the tools in KiCad to draw the outline, place components like the battery, switch, and LED, and even add a mounting hole for securing the PCB in an enclosure. This video combines these two steps to streamline the process, especially for simpler circuits like our LED torch project.
