This video is part of the "Introduction to Electronics: Filters" course, created to help beginners understand the principles and applications of electronic filters through hands-on projects. You will explore essential topics like RC and RL filters, cutoff frequency, phase shift, Bode plots, and how filters are used in audio, sensors, and power supplies. In this video, we explore the behavior of the RL high-pass filter. You will learn how a resistor and inductor work together in series to block low-frequency signals while allowing high-frequency signals to pass. The output is taken across the inductor. At low frequencies, the inductor’s impedance is low, resulting in minimal output. As frequency increases, its impedance rises, and the output increases accordingly. We explain the transfer function and how to calculate the cutoff frequency using fc = R / (2πL). A Python-generated frequency response plot shows how the filter attenuates low frequencies and passes higher ones with minimal loss.
