The pink sample key and yellow key (to be made) are clamped on the blue oscillating table.
The brown cutter spindle is driven by an electric motor vie a belt drive (not shown).
The operator (red arrow) forces the pink sample key towards the brown tracer and the brown disc cutter creates key slots on the yellow key when the blue oscillating table moves in the longitudinal direction.
This movement comes from the worm drive (brown worm and yellow worm wheel), sine mechanism (yellow worm wheel, blue slider, pink shaft) and orange latch.
In simpler machines this movement is performed by the operator.
