This mechanism aims to eliminate backlash at the revolution joint between blue link and its pivot.
Toggle links (yellow and red) are spring loaded and approach alignment to take up lost motion as wear in the joint takes place. Smooth response is thus gained.
The video shows how the links move under the influence of the spring to eliminate the backlash at all four revolution joints here.
