Chief SFG Brett Jones explains that having vertical shins is a great intention (particularly for those who are having trouble understanding the difference between a squat and the hinge pattern of a deadlift and swing)...but in reality is probably not optimal for producing the greatest power—and your position should be determined by your particular lever lengths and proportions. The "ideal" swing stance for most people probably will have a very slight forward angle of their tibia, as Brett does.
