Based in Glasgow, Karla Black is one of the country’s leading contemporary artists, and represented Scotland at the 2011 Venice Biennale. She is renowned for large-scale abstract sculptures, which are often composed of delicate and ephemeral materials, such as cellophane, chalk powder, eye shadow, petroleum jelly, gels, toothpaste and cotton wool.
