_Kalkani_ (eagle) is a special collaboration between *William Barton (didgeridoo)* and *Véronique Serret (violin)* from their musical project _Heartland_ . Beginning its life as a duet, the work has now been orchestrated by *Robert Davidson (Topology)* for Queensland Symphony Orchestra. William and Véronique recently sat down with Chief Conductor, Umberto Clerici, to delve into their creative process, the inspiration for the piece, and the crucial role that the orchestra plays in transporting audiences into the mythological word of _Kalkani_ .
_Kalkani_ will open QSO's 2023 Maestro Season this February.

*William Barton* is Australia’s leading didgeridoo player as well as composer, instrumentalist and vocalist. Throughout his diverse career he has forged a path in the classical musical world, from the London and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras to historic events at Westminster Abbey for Commonwealth Day 2019, at Anzac Cove in Gallipoli and for the Beijing Olympics.
*Véronique Serret*
Véronique is a super versatile violinist, vocalist and composer, effortlessly bridging the divide between classical and contemporary art forms.. In demand as a leader, chamber musician, mentor and collaborative artist, Véronique is known for her inclusive sound world ,her willingness to experiment across genres and her work on the 6 string violin
