This video shows a printed, foldable model of the James Webb Space Telescope that I assembled. The model is composed of 39 separate 3D printed parts, plus other miscellaneous parts including mylar, wire brads, steel wire, and magnets. This is a fairly high-fidelity model in that its components are deployable in a manner similar to the actual JWST. The model has 9 separate hinged or sliding joints that allow its components to fold and unfold. In the video, I demonstrate JWST’s deployment steps starting with the model in its stowed configuration and then unfold the parts that are moveable in the same order as JWST deployed.

My appreciation goes to:
- Pat Dengler, for printing, individually packaging, and labeling the JWST model parts and giving me the entire kit as a gift to assemble
- chemteacher628, for creating the 3D print files and uploading them to printables.com
- nff/yogi, for creating an illustrated guide for assembling the printed JWST model and uploading it to imgur.com
