Welfare Recipients featured on the third album, The Desolate One (1989), from New York golden-age hip-hop rapper Joseph Williams Jr, aka Just-Ice. Whilst not as critically favoured as his previous albums, Back to the Old School (1986) and Kool & Deadly (1987), The Desolate One was Just-Ice’s most commercially successful, charting at #16 in the UK indie chart, not to mention frequent airplay on KROQ in the 90s from Sublime’s Bradley Nowell.
