1. I love cardigans (and v necks!) but hate purling. I want to try to modify the frost lines pattern to be knit in the round and steeked. Have you ever had experience using a double knit button band to secure the raw edge on a steeked project? And would that work with the wandering flok fiber? Mainly, since it isn’t as “sticky”, but should theoretically sandwich it inside the button band.
2. Hi Andrea! I have a yarn question about your gorgeous new Antipodes pattern. The suggested Confluence fingering weight yarn has 20 percent cotton, but I noticed the suggested alternative yarns have much higher ratios of cotton, like 50 percent. My gut instinct would be to go for a fully wool substitute versus a 50 percent cotton one since that seems so different from 80 percent wool. Am I wrong? Is a cotton content so important in this design that I should sub with even a higher ratio of cotton to wool?
3. Hey Andrea! Antipodes is my favorite sweater pattern in a while - I just love it and can't wait to cast on. I've made a few of your drop shoulder patterns and I always have to modify the pattern to add fabric for my biceps. Easy peasy for the usual drop shoulder design. Antipodes has the saddle though so I'm curious.... Would you add some stitches to the saddle to add arm hole fabric there, or would you knit the saddle as written and add to the front and back per usual. I'm curious if the proportions will look off without adding to the saddle. Thanks for your thoughts!!
4. I am confused about the number of plies to use when i look at choosing a yarn to go with a pattern. Does it matter how many plies? Does more plies mean less pilling? Oh and I’m almost done with my Anemoia! I thought the Jaunty was so fun, and how could you make another scarf/shawl that is so much fun to knit? And you did it again! Thx for so much fun in knitting!
5. Hi Andrea! I'm a big fan of your traveler hoodie pattern and have made both the hoodie and crew neck for myself! For my husband's birthday this year, I offered to make him a sweater and he wanted to have a traveler hoodie of his own. I'm a fairly experienced garment knitter, but have only made men's sweaters that were specifically made for men. I've done the measurements and have made the appropriate adjustments for the yoke depth and length, but my question is, should I be considering more adjustments? I'm wondering if I should add more short rows or change the neck... what are your thoughts on adjusting this pattern for a man? Thanks so much!
