The title has nothing to do with articulated lorries, but more to do with definition – “a huge, powerful overwhelming force.” It’s a movie about bombs on an ocean liner, a ransom hungry terrorist with the codename Juggernaut. On release it was lumped in with the disaster movie trend which was in full swing in the early seventies. And although it shares similarities it’s also distinct in a number of ways. It's got Richard Harris as a bomb disposal expert, Omar Sharif as a sailor, Anthony Hopkins as a cop and Bilbo Baggins as the owner of a shipping line. Worth a look for that alone one would imagine.
