One of two remarkable transcriptions that come down to us in P. 218: Transcriptions from the composer's own violin music, the 'authenticity' of which have puzzled Bachians for years.

This video is a transcription of the C major violin sonata, BWV 1005 -- only the first movement is arranged. The entire sonata, BWV 1003, appears as BWV 964. Both works for keyboard show an extremely rich imagination and complete mastery of the art of transcription.
