At long last, after four Tony nominations, Joshua Henry is a Tony Award winner. At the 2026 Tony Awards, the Ragtime star dedicated a portion of his acceptance speech to his inspirations: Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell (who were in the original 1998 cast of Ragtime).
Backstage, fresh off of his win, Henry was asked to reflect on what he hopes to inspire in future generation. "I hope they look at what I've done and realize that's just a sketch, now breathe lift into it and really make it your own."
