![Getting to Know APD AuroraSAVE Officer Jaime Gonzalez-Dominguez
Every officer has a story to tell.
For AuroraSAVE Officer Jaime Gonzalez Dominguez, that story is personal.
Growing up in a trailer park in Denver, Jaime saw many of the same challenges that some of Auroras youth face today. He watched friends make choices that led them down difficult paths. What made the difference in his life were the mentors, coaches and teachers who invested in him and helped him see a different future.
Today, Jaime serves with AuroraSAVE because he understands the power of that guidance firsthand.
AuroraSAVE is a dedicated collaborative group with the city that connects youth who may be at risk of involvement in violence with mentorship, support services and resources designed to help them make positive choices and build safer futures.
Jaimes story is a reminder that behind every badge is a person, and behind every young person is potential.
As Jaime says, were more than just a badge. Were a resource.

![APD Officers Make Arrest Using Drones
Technology + teamwork = quick results
Just a few weeks ago, officers arrested a burglary suspect in less than an hour thanks to a vigilant neighbor, the Real Time Information Center (RTIC) and APDs Drones as First Responders program.
The incident began when a neighbor reported seeing a man enter a homes backyard and leave with a bicycle. Using live camera technology, RTIC quickly located a suspect matching the description riding a bicycle that matched the one reported stolen. Drone technology and real-time updates allowed officers to continuously track the suspects movements, directing officers to his location within minutes.
When officers contacted the suspect, he abandoned the bicycle and tried to run.
But we were faster.
Officers quickly took him into custody, recovered the stolen bike and other property taken from the residence, and arrested him on probable cause of theft, trespassing and obstructing.
This case is another example of how APDs technology, combined with community members who report suspicious activity, helps officers locate suspects quickly, recover stolen property and keep our community safe.

![25 Seconds Flat: Officer Chases Down Stolen Car Driver on Foot
Cant stop, wont stop.
On Thursday, during the height of rush hour, a vehicle theft suspect decided it was a good idea to try and run from the police. He sped through heavy, busy intersections attempting to avoid us and get away.
When his car finally came to a stop, he booked it out of the vehicle. But APD? Cant stop, wont stop. Our officers were right on his heals and nabbed him in less than 25 seconds.
Cory Thompson, 36, was subsequently arrested on charges of motor vehicle theft, felony eluding, criminal possession of a financial transaction device, possession of dangerous drugs and driving without a license.
Shockingly, this wasn’t the first time Thompson had a run-in with APD. Dating to Christmas Day 2022, we’ve arrested Thompson SEVEN times. All seven of those arrests involved stolen vehicles that were either taken from members of our community or our neighbors in the Denver metro.
Heck of a run, but not fast enough. Safety first, safety always. Thats the Aurora way.

![Aurora Police Catch Copper Wire Thieves in the Act
Copper Wire Theft? Caught in the act.➡️
All the right tools, none of the right decisions…
On the 7th about 12:42 a.m. we got a call of some suspicious activity at the 3300 block of N. Lewiston St. inside a construction company warehouse. Officers arrived on scene and found two suspects with a pickup truck near the loading dock, dressed in dark clothing, hoods up, looking as suspicious as it gets.
The duo was originally a trio, but the third suspect took off.
Officers took 28-year-old Brian Garcia and 51-year-old Raul Luevano into custody without incident.
Turns out, the group was seen on security footage inside the warehouse rolling out massive spools of copper wire worth $12,000 and weighing nearly 250 pounds…
The security company spoke over the warehouse PA system instructing them to leave.
Which obviously they didn’t and broke a sweat for nothing…
And shocker…no one in this scenario was “just the driver”.
The business also sustained about $3,000 in damages to the bay door. Both men are facing burglary and theft charges.
You may have all the right tools to commit a burglary, but doesn’t mean APD won’t catch you in the act.
We will beat you at that game every. Single. Time.

![How APD is Using Technology in Policing
Technology is part of modern policing and we know it comes with questions. Here’s a closer look at what APD technology does and does not do.➡️
From license plate readers to drones and city cameras, our Real Time Information Center helps officers solve crimes, locate missing people and get critical information out faster.
Just as important, there are strict policies and guardrails in place to ensure this technology is used responsibly.
It does not replace officers. It supports them and helps us better protect our community.
