Join the Johnson Controls Water Infrastructure Technology Team and the Texarkana Water Utilities staff as they discuss their recent ultrasonic water meter, AMI system, leak detection, and customer engagement portal project.

In 2023, Texarkana Water Utilities (TWU) was facing many challenges. Over a thousand water meters had suddenly stopped reading, and over a hundred large water meters tested inaccurately. The existing touch read AMR system for 29,544 water meters was both inefficient and obsolescent. The cost of water to TWU was about to double, which made reducing real water loss a priority. After a competitive selection process, the city chose Johnson Controls to replace all but the newest water meters with new ultrasonic water meters, to install a new cellular AMI system, and to install an automated leak detection system that covered the entire water distribution system. The city also wanted a customer engagement portal to enable the utility to provide exceptional customer service.

The Johnson Controls team interviewed Gary Smith, Kenny Icenhower, and Troy Daffern from Texarkana Water Utilities as a part of the Blue Water Webinar- Episode #19.
