From 25 to 30 March 2019, lawyers, artists, constitutional historians and civil society experts met in Namibia for the "Week of Justice." The event series, organized by ECCHR, Akademie der Künste, Goethe-Institut Namibia as well as representatives of the Ovaherero and Nama peoples, discussed the following questions about postcolonial injustice: Who is talking about whom? Which perspectives and memories are part of the conversation, which ones are ignored? What kind of justice is needed to address (post)colonial injustice? How can we achieve a truly constructive and forward-thinking discourse?

In his talk "John Nakuta: Reflecting on the Genocide of the Ovaherero and Nama Peoples 115 Years Later," Prof John Nakuta (University of Namibia) spoke about the concept of formalistic equality that reproduces inequality when people live in unequal conditions.
